About Bee on the Brow Bed & Breakfast on Lookout Moutain

Who knew Alabama could be so beautiful?

When first introduced to Mentone and experiencing a morning waking up above the clouds, we knew we had discovered something special. When we purchased the property now known as Bee on the Brow, we had found a place to marvel at creation, be excited for new experiences and a place to let go of the stresses and worries that so easily rid us of peace; we had also found our forever home after 25 plus years serving as a military family.

An extensive renovation enabled us to breathe new life into our classic Mentone home while maintaining its mountain home charm. The three acre property hosts dozens of hickory trees and a variety of flora that spring to life from season-to-season and month-to-month. Northern Alabama wildlife make frequent appearances (from deer to groundhogs and a wandering peacock!) and there are hidden spots to nature watch or sit and reflect, some down the mountainside trail and others at a window or deck seat. Sunset viewing or star gazing is a favorite for many guests and coffee and dessert top off the memory making in the evenings.

And what about that name?

We have long admired and relate to the honeybee whose work yields a sweet reward. We also want anyone on the property to fully connect with what it means to retreat to Mentone – to fully “bee” present.
